Our Olympic Stadium Event

We launched the Gold Challenge Olympic Stadium Event yesterday– an amazing opportunity for some lucky Gold Challengers to run the 100m in the Olympic stadium on 1stApril 2012. Not only that, but you could also walk the official opening ceremony route in our Charity Parade, or join the crowds of 15,000 people watching from the stands.  This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will be among the first people in the world to run the 100m on the track that will see the stars of Team GB and ParalympicsGB compete against world class Olympic and Paralympic athletes in the summer of 2012.

The launch was on the roof of the Operations Centre in the Olympic Park which offers photographers a fantastic view of the Olympic stadium. It also provides an stunning vista ranging from Canary Wharf to the (award winning) Olympic Energy Centre via the Stadium, the Orbit, the Aquatic Centre, the Olympic Village, the Velodrome, and the Handball and Basketball arenas. A series of iconic buildings that really do whet the appetite for the Olympics.

We were joined Lord Coe, Sally Gunnell and number of Gold Challengers of all ages. Many thanks to all of them for coming along and being so charming and enthusiastic.

There was very good media attendance too, and we ended up appearing on BBC News, BBC Radio London, in the Metro, the Evening Standard, and many more. This is great for Gold Challenge as it helps us to spread the word.

It was a truly excellent day – and I can’t wait for the event itself.

If you’d like to join us there, then sign up for the Gold Challenge and give yourself the chance to be one of the first to run the 100m in the Olympic stadium! It’s our unique thank you to people who have been inspired by London 2012 to get active and raise money for one of Gold Challenge’s 150 charity partners. So please do take a look, sign up and we could be seeing you in the stadium on April 1st 2012…

About Run the World

I'm running 10 km in every country in the world - a total of 205 countries - by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. I'm doing the Run the World challenge to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity and to raise money for cancer research following the death of my mother from cancer. If you'd like to donate to Cancer Research - https://www.justgiving.com/Dan-Thompson11/ - then I know they'd be very grateful.
